Boat detailing is a wash, oxidation removal, and marine gelcoat restoration that brings a chalky, sun-faded hull back to gloss. Every hull is quoted in person, because length and gelcoat condition decide the hours. We work across Reno and Sparks, at your home, your dry storage, or wherever the trailer is parked.

"Beyond satisfied with our detailing services! We hired Logan to bring life back to our dull RV and we were so amazed with how it turned out, we had our personal vehicles done as well. I didn't realize how bad the paint on my car was until he showed a sample! Looks better now, inside and out, than the day I bought it off the car lot. Everything shines like glass."

"Truly a 5-star experience. My 5th wheel was in pretty bad shape, and Logan made it shine like new. The communication was great, the attention to detail was great, and the care for his work and my property was great. They should be your first call!"

"Logan knocked it out of the park with the detail and ceramic job on my triple black metallic F350. Looks better today than the day I brought it home from the dealer! I highly recommend Don of Detail's services for your vehicles."

"This was my first time getting my motorcycle detailed by Logan. He did an amazing job! I had dust caked on my bike from it being stored away for the winter season, and it was sparkly new by the time he was done. He also noticed I needed new tires and was kind enough to let me know. He truly takes the time to go over every detail. Professional, diligent, and friendly."

"Don of Detail provides truly excellent service. Logan has a passion for cars and it shows in his work. He made my 2019 Camry just about brand new, and that is with me having 2 big dogs and several years of built up dirt inside. He has exceptional attention to detail and gave me so much information about caring for my car. Highly recommend!"

"Logan is very professional and knowledgeable. He does things right and is very particular with making things look the very best. There are a lot of mobile detailers out there, but he knows a lot more particulars and proper material maintenance that comes with a professional detail and not just a standard cleaning. He makes sure things are done right the first time!"

"Logan and his wife are true professionals in detailing in every sense of the word! They are punctual, thorough, and do an incredibly beautiful job in their detail work. Our Toyota Venza never looked so beautiful when they were done. We also had him do a ceramic coat finish as well! We would highly recommend them!"

What We Detail

What boats do we detail in Reno?

Anything with a gelcoat hull that comes off a trailer or out of dry storage. Most people looking for a boat detailer here are getting a hull ready for Tahoe or putting one away for winter.

Ski & Wake Boats

The Tahoe workhorses. Hull sides take the worst of the sun and the waterline stain.

Pontoons

Aluminum tubes, rails, and vinyl decking, cleaned and protected as one job.

Bowriders

Gelcoat hull, vinyl seating, and the non-skid deck people usually give up on.

Fishing Boats

Waterline scum, hard water spotting, and open decks that live outdoors.

Jet Skis

Small hulls, heavy UV exposure, and quick to restore before the season starts.

Vinyl & Non-Skid

Mildew pulled out of seating, decking deep cleaned, and UV protection applied.

Boat work is quoted per hull, because length and how far the gelcoat has gone decide the hours. Once it is restored, boat ceramic coating is the way to keep it that way, sealing the gelcoat with a marine grade ceramic coating so it rinses clean between trips. We handle the tow vehicle too, whether that is a full mobile car detailing service or paint correction on the same visit.

How Bad Is It

Light or heavy oxidation?

Boat work is quoted per hull because the hours depend on how far the gelcoat has gone. Run a hand along a sun-facing hull side. What comes off tells you which of these you have.

Light Oxidation

Covered storage, or kept on top of each season.

FinishDull
ProcessOne stage
  • Color is still there, just flat
  • Nothing comes off on your hand
  • Gloss returns with a single polish stage
  • Waterline stain lifts without cutting
  • Sealed afterwards to hold it
  • Lower end of the quote

Heavy Oxidation

Seasons of high-altitude sun with no protection.

FinishChalky
ProcessMulti-stage
  • Hull sides have gone chalky and faded
  • Colored residue rubs off on your hand
  • Heavy-cut marine compounding, sometimes wet sanding
  • Waterline needs acid treatment first
  • Bare gelcoat must be sealed or it dulls again by mid-season
  • Higher end of the quote

Not sure which one you have? Send a few photos of the worst hull side and we will tell you straight, including if it is far enough gone that compounding will not bring it all the way back.

Why It Matters

Why Reno boats fade so fast.

Marine gelcoat is porous, and at this elevation the UV is unfiltered. A hull that spends its summers on Tahoe or Pyramid takes sun off the water as well as from above, which is why boats here chalk up faster than the same hull would at sea level.

Hard water is the other half of it. Tahoe and Pyramid both leave mineral deposits along the waterline that will not wash off, and scrubbing at them is how gelcoat gets damaged. Those need an acid treatment, not effort.

Restoring a faded hull means heavy-cut marine compounding to level the dead layer, then refining polishes to bring the color back. We seal it afterwards so the next season does not undo the work. We are fully mobile across Reno, Sparks, and the surrounding area. See every community we cover.

Protect the hull. Keep the season.
